Dano's Music Studio
about Danielle
Danielle teaches private and group lessons both online and in person (for those local to Ottawa). She is an ARCT qualified Royal Conservatory Registered music teacher with over 20 years experience specializing in voice, piano, and music theory. Danielle follows the RCM curriculum but is also a proponent of student led lessons and believes that anyone can find joy in making music at any age or level. Danielle happily explores all genres of music with her students and enjoys the relationships that are built through the mutual study of music.
Danielle has worked with music schools, as a musical director for the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Fredericton, has provided music for many weddings, funerals, and receptions, worked as an accompanist for vocalists, instrumentalists, choral groups, and choirs, performed in showcases and recitals, organized and facilitated showcases and recitals, acted as a voice coach for auditions and competitions, directed a musical theatre camp, been involved in local music festivals, played keyboard as part of an ensemble, taught theory classes, and is very comfortable preparing students for performances, RCM exams, auditions, and competitions. She is equally comfortable teaching people to make music purely for the joy of it!

testimonials
"Danielle is a gifted music teacher who brings out the best in her students. Her attention to detail, technical expertise, and sensitivity can be tailored to suit the needs of any student, beginner or advanced.
As my high school voice teacher, Danielle prepared me expertly for Royal Conservatory of Music exams and entrance exams to university B.Mus programs. She provided me with a wonderful, well-rounded music education that has served me well through my B.Mus degree and in to my career as a musician and music educator myself."
"We were lucky enough to have our daughter work with Danielle as our daughter was just beginning her music learning. Danielle was amazing with her as she explored her interest in piano- she beautifully balanced the structure our daughter needed to learn with allowing her to 'play' and explore her creativity. She supported our daughter in composing her own songs and learning to play them, along with working on more formal pieces, which really built up her confidence and pleasure in making music. Danielle is knowledgeable, patient, kind, and inspiring in her teaching style. She makes music learning a true joy!"
"Our 8 year old daughter began music lessons with Danielle in September 2021, beginning with the piano and more recently incorporating voice into her weekly lessons. Danielle is a patient and kind teacher who not only made our daughter feel welcome and comfortable, her enthusiasm and love of music shines through and inspires her students, keeping them engaged and excited in their lessons. The bright and cheerful studio is a reflection of Danielle's personality. Our daughter had little to no previous experience in playing the piano before beginning her lessons with Danielle. Through her music lessons, our daughter has gained more than just confidence and the ability to play music, she's improved her emotional intelligence through the exploration of her musical studies. Danielle provides notes on our daughter's progress weekly, including positive feedback of her observations during the lesson.
Danielle is determined to provide her students with the opportunity to present their skills and found a way to have a Christmas concert, even though it had to be rescheduled to January due to a new covid variant. Danielle is flexible, adaptable and accommodating, sometimes needing to switch lessons from in-person to virtual due to covid restrictions or otherwise. She has handled the ever changing environment gracefully and always had a solution to offer. Most of all, she is a very talented music teacher and I recommend Danielle to anyone regardless of their age or level of skill."
